Tim Boyle, the Columbia Sportswear Co. chief executive, on Thursday praised Salt & Straw for calling attention to safety problems on the city's Central Eastside. Ice cream company CEO Kim Malek spoke out about fears for her employees' safety after a vehicle fire near the company and one of her workers having had a gun pulled on them. Accepting an award for Oregon's Most Admired Companies, a yearly Business Journal event, Boyle spent time at the microphone directing remarks toward Salt & Straw.
